50 Cent should have such a posse

CNews Report: Top Zarqawi Aid Captured. The Iraqi Interior Ministry has reported the capture of "Top Al Zarqawi Aid" Syrian Abu al Farouq in Ramdi Iraq. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi of course is the "Top Al Qaida Lieutenant" in Iraq. Al Farouq was captured along with five other Al Qaida operatives:

  • Ibn El Kaboom - described as the "Top Coadjutant to the Top Aid to the Top Lieutenant of Al Qaida in Iraq"
  • Muqtar Ihateyouall - the "Top Assistant to the Top Coadjutant to the Top Aid to the Top Lieutenant of Al Qaida in Iraq"
  • Ibrahim al Sadist - "Top Under Secretary to the Top Lieutenant of Al Qaida in Iraq"
  • Sayid Mustafa - "Top Homey in the posse of the Top Coadjutant to the Top Aid to the Top Lieutenant of Al Qaida in Iraq"
  • Ali baba - "Top Poor Bastard who got got in the wrong place to the Top Under Secretary to the Top Lieutenant of Al Qaida in Iraq"
Of course only a cynic would suggest that this announcement has any thing to do with deflecting attention away from the brewing civil war.

Heya,

Not a great call on the title, man. For one thing, it's "aides" in this context, not aids, and for another, it's a pretty grisly pun to make with hundreds of thousands dying horribly in Africa from AIDS. I'm sure you didn't mean it like that, but honestly, I suggest a name change to the post before you get linked and flamed for it bad.

Don't shoot the messenger, and feel free to delete this post when/if it's redundant.

I certainly don't make light of the AIDS epidemic in Africa. The point of my scorn is inference by labelling every insurgent captured a top aide, that progress is somehow being made in Iraq. These announcements trotted out each time the dire situation in Iraq takes yet another turn for the worse.

I'll change the title if others find it offensive too.

I paraphrase some comedian whose name I don't remember, we've now captured or killed 80% of Zarqawi's Number Two men.

Yes - and with the number of times Iraq has "turned the corner" I think we have come full circle at least twice.
